You Know Me (Poem)

I am who you said I was.
You said that I’m beautiful. That I am made of infinite depths.
You said that.
You said that I am strong in the softest of ways. That I am fierce, yet calm.
That my life is full of ebbs and flows.
You saw that.
I hear the Lord and step out
When He asks me to.
I listen and am passionate about everything I do.
That God is writing my story.
You knew that.
I would be fine without you, but I loved having you in my life.
You made me better and I you.
But the Lord knows me better.
He knew that it wasn’t right… whether it was the timing or the place, I don’t know. But He knows.
He knows me.
He knows I need one alone… Him alone.
He is my strength.
He sings over me.
He leads me by still waters.
He dives into the depths that I put myself in,
pulls me from the miry clay, out from the belly of the whale.
I’m afraid to move forward, but I trust Him to guide me.
I reflect and obsess too much.
But He has redeemed me and given me hope.
He changes me.
I fall, but He raises me up and carries me
to the shore. His love overflows.
I may wander, but He chases me and guides me back to Him.
He is Holy and trustworthy.
He hears and knows me.
The journey I’m on with the Lord is exciting and fulfilling.
I wish I could do both. Live a life with you and Him,
but it doesn’t seem that it’s the same path.
His path is the one I must be on. The one I may walk alone forever on.
But He is with me, so I will never be completely alone.
He makes me whole again. I pray the same for you.
That you seek Him alone.
That you find yourself.
That you heal and grow.
I know that I will,
with the Lord alone.
